Chaired by the scientist and entrepreneur Stefano Buono, LIFTT came to life as an operating company in June 2019, thanks to Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Politecnico di Torino, and LINKS Foundation.
LIFTT was born in Turin, operating within the agreements between the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and five universities: Politecnico di Torino, Università di Torino, Università del Piemonte Orientale, Università di Genova and Università Federico II di Napoli.
In January 2020 LIFTT opens to private capital and announces the transformation into S.p.A. (Public Limited Company), to conclude a first capital increase of 7.2 million euros in a few weeks thanks to the participation of 27 investors among private individuals, business angels and investment holding companies.
In April 2020 the company has been recognised as an ‘Innovative SME’.
In June 2020 LIFTT announced a new €8.4 million capital increase to further enhance its investment activity and take advantage of the tax benefits for those investing in innovative SMEs.
In March 2021 LIFTT completes fundraising of €20,9 million, with 107 total investors. Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione CRT enter the capital.
